Sheree C. Carter, RN, MSN, CNS, is the Administrative Program Director II for the Arthritis Clinical Intervention Program (ACIP) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham Alabama. The ACIP is a program solely dedicated to clinical trials for the Division of Rheumatology at UAB functioning since 1989. Sheree’s interests focus in the areas of research ethics, recruitment and retention of subjects, and education and training of research nurse coordinators/managers. She has contributed to numerous clinical coordinator training programs and distance-based certificate programs with International sites. Her publications have centered in development and education of nurse coordinators/managers of clinical trials. She is a clinical nurse specialist in Rheumatology, has memberships in the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals, Southern Nurses Research Society, North American region of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and Drug Information Association. It is her belief that through defining and implementing standardized clinical research training for nurses, an appreciable increase in quality studies and research success will result.
